Our Trust’s Equality Steering Group is responsible for ensuring effective management of the equality, diversity and human rights agenda.
Specifically the Steering Group, which is chaired by the Vice Chair of the Trust is responsible for:
- Ensuring the various policy making and governance forums take responsibility for progressing the objectives of the Single Equality Scheme, and the supporting Race, Disability and Gender Equality Schemes action plans, that fall within their areas of responsibility
- Monitoring that effective procedures and practices are maintained and applied for assessing the impact of policies, practices and services in ensuring equality in both service provision and employment.
- Monitoring actions taken to address disadvantage or adverse impact on the grounds of race. disability, gender, age, faith and religion, and sexual orientation, and drawing the attention of the Clinical Governance Committee and Trust Board to the need for remedial actions.
- Ensuring the rolling Single Equality Scheme action plan, and the supporting Race, Disability and Gender Equality Schemes Action Plans, are maintained, are current, and reflect key service and organisational objectives
- Making an annual report to the Trust Board on progress made in achieving the targets and objectives set out in the Single Equality Scheme.
