Since January, our trust has significantly redesigned its addiction services in Birmingham, to create a more streamlined and recovery-focused experience for service users.
The result of this redesign is a network of four new treatment hubs across the city. Multidisciplinary teams based at these hubs will offer a range of treatment and support options to both drug and alcohol users.
Services located in Erdington, Handsworth, Sparkhill and Washwood Heath are delivered in partnership with other service providers across the city and in conjunction with those who are in recovery via the Aspire recovery coaching scheme.
From July 1, 2012 these treatment centres will be known as Addiction Recovery Community Hubs (ARCH).
ARCH reflects the fact that we continually strive to deliver recovery from addiction within service users’ communities, which has led us to create four focal hubs for recovery in conjunction with our staff, service users and other professionals.
Dr George Georgiou, interim director for strategic delivery for youth, addictions, the homeless and Birmingham Healthy Minds, said: “The Aspire recovery coaching scheme and its integration into our Addictions Recovery Community Hubs is a truly exciting opportunity.
“This means people in recovery will be working hand in hand with our teams to engage and work with service users and carers.
“At the same time they will guide the service to be more informed about the wishes and the needs of our service users, as well allowing us to continue toward a clear recovery approach.”
