Corporate strategy consultation - we want your views

Earlier this month, our Trust Board met to re-evaluate and refresh the vision, values and strategic direction of the Trust. They frankly considered our current position, drawing upon various information sources and feedback, and confronted some of the difficult issues which have hindered us as a Trust in the past.

The Board then collectively thought about where we as a trust want to be in the future and how we can get there, and most importantly how we will know when we’ve achieved our ambitions.

At the heart of the discussion was ensuring that our vision and ambitions will deliver effective quality care and outcomes for service users, their carers and families.

By the end of the session the Board had established a vision for the Trust’s future, our ambitions of how we will achieve this vision, as well as accompanying values for the Trust.  This will now enable the Board to lead on a new business plan with consistency of purpose and also to map out how this will be delivered within the organisation.

It was felt by the Board that the outcome of this process will give a real opportunity for the Trust to work with a refreshed sense of clarity and enthusiasm about where the organisation is going, and the role that we all play as a Trust in delivering the vision, values and ambitions through our strategic and operational plans.

The next step in the process is that we begin to consult with a wide range of stakeholders on the Board’s proposals.

The consultation is being led by Paul Jennings, our Interim Chief Executive, and we would encourage you to take part.

We are holding a service user and carer session, so you can get involved and share your views on the Trust Board’s proposals for the future strategy of the organisation.

The session will be held on Thursday, March 14 from 3.30pm - 4.30pm at Uffculme Centre, 52 Queensbridge Road, Moseley, B13 8QY

The Interim Chief Executive will directly collate and assimilate all of the feedback, so please send your responses directly to Paul Jennings.  (paul.jennings@bsmhft.nhs.uk).  The closing date for feedback on the consultation is Friday, March 15.

Following the consultation, the final vision, ambitions and values for our trust will then be signed off by the Trust Board before the end of March 2013, ready to become embedded within our organisation and the way we do things as a Trust.

Please take the time to find out more about the trusts plans for the future through taking part in this consultation.  Your views and feedback are important, and will be listened to.
