Birmingham Healthy Minds

Birmingham Healthy Minds (BHM) is Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) primary care psychological therapy service is delivered in partnership with GPs, the mental health consortium third sector organisations. This service provides psychological therapy for adults at the earliest opportunity.

Psychological therapies are widely recognised as effective treatments for a wide range of mental health problems. Access to the right therapy at the right time can have an enormous impact on a person’s life; it can help people to better manage their condition and, in many cases, enable a full recovery.
Stepping-stones
The BHM team focus on mild to moderate cases of depression and anxiety, updated referral guidance and criteria, along with a referral template is currently being revised and will be out shortly.

The psychological wellbeing practitioners are planning to deliver more wellbeing workshops across the city. Details will be available in the next edition of GP Matters.

As previously stated, we have a huge demand on our service and are in the process of making changes to improve our service, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Hopefully all practices have had copies of our new service booklet. If you need more copies then please let us know.

The first obsessive compulsive disorder therapeutic group commenced in BEN BHM and has received good feedback. We are planning to start up therapeutic groups for depression and anxiety at step 3 across the city.
