Psychiatric Liaison is made up of five teams across Birmingham and Solihull, based at, City hospital, Selly Oak hospital, Heartlands hospital, Good Hope hospital and Solihull hospital.
Each team is slightly different depending on the hospital, but will include staff such as mental health nurses and psychiatrists. Some teams also have input from Social Services.
All patients who go to the Accident and Emergency Department of a General hospital with a mental health problem or having attempted deliberate self harm will receive a comprehensive mental health assessment from Psychiatric Liaison Team. The team will then signpost the patient to whichever service is most appropriate.
The team also provide a service to hospital inpatient wards and provide comprehensive training packages to the acute hospital staff.
Most teams offer a 9-5 service, although this may vary.
