Rehabilitation and Recovery Service

Rehabilitation and Recovery Teams provide longer-term care for people with severe mental health problems and complex long-term needs.

They aim to help people live more comfortably and successfully in society.

Our staff do this by:

  • working with a person to help him or her spot early signs of mental distress
  • helping him or her to cope with this distress
  • developing the skills he or she needs to manage everyday life
  • creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere for him or her to learn and grow in
  • focusing on his or her strengths
  • organising leisure activities to help him or her build up a social network

Rehabilitation and Recovery Teams also have specialised inpatient units for when a person needs more round-the-clock support. These are based within the local community.

 

Our service aims to:-

  • provide a multi- disciplinary approach to optimising the mental health and functioning of individuals who experience severe and enduring mental health problems.

  • is targeted at individuals who have demonstrated high levels of need throughmultiple admissions, poor engagement, limited responses to treatment and increased vulnerability or risk due to symptoms or neglect.

  • utilises a “Recovery” philosophy underpins the work of the service which ensures individualized and collaborative care planning to enhance coping strategies and build on service user’s strengths.

  • works in a multi- agency context to deliver joined up care packages which meet the psycho- social needs of our service users. This will involve developing both optimal treatments and a full range of social and psychological interventions.

  • The service strives to promote social inclusion and reduce stigma.

  • A fundamental aim of the service is to improve the quality of life of our service users.

  • The service will also address the needs of carers and seek to restore or mprove functioning within families through psycho education and support.

  • Promote active and full engagement of service users in their own care.

  • To offer consultation to other services and agencies regarding the management of severe and enduring mental illness.
