Women's Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre

The Women's Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre is an outpatient based counselling and psychotherapy service for women aged 18 and upwards which is provided by female therapists. It is a self referral service only.  For further information please call 0121 301 3814

It is expected that women who already have a contact with a psychiatric team and whose difficulties are complex be referred to secondary and tertiary psychological therapy providers within the Trust and do not self refer to the Women's Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre. The Women's Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre is a service for women who do not require complex and intensive psychiatric support.

The Centre provides an initial consultation assessment as well as individual counselling/psychotherapy

How can counselling/psychotherapy help?

The therapy relationship between patient and therapist:

  • offers an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings
  • helps a person look at changes they may wish to make and begin to come to terms with things that perhaps cannot be changed
  • can enable the person to make links between past events and present difficulties
