Treatment approaches include:
- Replacement Prescribing
- Structured Counselling
- Specific Psychological Therapies for drug users including “Crack” & other stimulant users
- Community Detoxification
- Acupuncture
- Advice & Information
- Needle Exchange
- Referral/Access to residential & day rehabilitation services.
- Referral/Access to other health and social care agencies.
Following assessment, individuals typically embark on a treatment journey that will involve regular meetings with specialist drug workers, doctors and possibly other professionals.
Moving through stages of treatment it is envisioned that in time clients will leave the CDT, either drug free or at least with their health, social and psychological situation improved to the point that care can easily be managed by their own GP.
