Service users are anyone who is, or has been, in the care of our Trust.
Alongside the care we provide, we organise many services which help to support service users in their daily lives.
This includes projects which work to involve service users in our Trust and the local community. It also involves promoting positive messages about mental health to the population of Birmingham and Solihull.
There are various ways in which our service users can become more involved. The following examples are a selection of current opportunities:
-
Voicing opinions at User Forums
-
Volunteering at our hospitals or community mental health sites
-
Assisting with service planning or design through project meetings
-
Being a member of recruitment panels
-
Training staff or other service users and carers
-
Becoming a member of our Foundation Trust
-
Being elected as a User, Carer or Public Governor of our Foundation Trust
-
Training to be a "mystery shopper" auditing trust services
User Voice / See Me- user involvement project
User Voice workers seek to promote the further involvement of our service users in the planning and delivery of mental health services in the trust. In our YASCC (Youth, Addictions, Secure and Complex Care) division the user involvement project is known as "See Me".
User Voice / See Me workers will:
-
Offer an insight into users' views
-
Organise regular user foums or meetings with service users
-
Encourage greater involvement through training, interviewing and project work
-
Ensure users' views are represented at all levels in the trust, to help ensure trust policies and services are always delivered with service users' opinions and needs in mind
-
Create feedback channels to keep service users and staff regularly informed
