It has been accepted that over a number of years mental health services have not been delivered to people from black, asian and minority ethnic communities experiencing mental illness in a way that is appropriate to their needs.
The trust is mandated by the government to demonstrate how it is addressing racial inequality and tackling discrimination in mental health services in England via the Workforce Racial Equality Standard.
Our trust is committed to ensuring rapid and sustained progress is made in the improvement of mental health services for black and minority ethnic communities.
In terms of employment black and minority ethnic people are well represented in the workforce as a whole when compared with the wider local population. However, certain communities are under represented, and black and minority ethnic staff are under represented in certain occupations and at more senior levels in the organisation. We will continue to work to ensure a workforce representative of the local population at all levels and across all occupations.
