Work experience

Are you thinking about a career within Mental Health?

We offer a wide range of Work Experience Programmes to help support and grow a skilled, diverse and flexible workforce that meet the needs of our service users; both now and in the future.

Work Experience is a fantastic way to gain an insight into a particular career and develop an understanding of working and caring for people in a mental health setting. It will help build your confidence and give you an understanding of the required attitudes, behaviors and values that are expected in a working environment. This experience will help you to make an informed choice on your future career options.

The types of opportunities we offer are listed below:

  • Work Experience Placements

We are currently fully subscribed for work experience placements over the summer school holiday so are not taking any applications. Future availability/dates will be advertised here soon.

We hold strong links with local schools/colleges and aim to support students by promoting careers within Mental Health. In order to ensure a fair opportunity is given to all applicants, please ensure the following criteria is met before contacting the Work Experience Team:

  • to qualify for clinical placements, you must be:

                    - aged 17 - 18

  • you may be considered for a non-clinical placement if you are aged 14 – 16 (year 10 -11) and/or 17-18 (year 12 – 13).

  • priority is given to students who live or study within the Birmingham and Solihull postcodes

Please note: we cannot guarantee any form of placement.
