Community Engagement and Inclusion Team shortlisted for a National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) award

Our Community Engagement and Inclusion Team have been shortlisted for an accolade at the prestigious National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) Grand Awards 2019.

The NCFD aims to advance fairness for all in the workplace by helping organisations to embed best equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) practices.

Nominated in the ‘Most Innovative EDI Initiative of the year’ category, the team has been applauded for its 'In Conversation’ sessions series of events.

These sessions have been compered by high profile figures with lived experiences of encountering inequalities. They provide a space to describe the harm caused and encourage others to challenge inequalities. In Conversation sessions' have been led by an impressive list of speakers and have proved popular with staff at our Trust:

  • Stephen Frost on Inclusion and unconscious bias

  • Rikki Arundel on the reality of being a Transwoman

  • Imran Khan on race equality in the UK post Stephen Lawrence

  • Jane Garvey on the gender pay gap and gender inequalities

  • Yvonne Coghill on our Trusts profile on race inequalities

  • Professor Tom Shakespeare on disability inequalities


Lakhvir Rellon, Head of Community Engagement and Inclusion, said “I am so proud our team has been shortlisted for innovation. We truly aim to find new ways to highlight and challenge inequalities and provide safe spaces for our workforce to discuss these issues. It’s humbling that our efforts have been recognised by the NCFD.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will be held in London on Thursday 17 January 2019.
