Published: 22/11/2019

Our Quality and Excellence Awards finalists were congratulated for their outstanding contribution to the care and wellbeing of the Trust’s service users, carers and staff members at an award ceremony in Birmingham on Wednesday 13 November.

Angela Sangha, Staff Nurse at the Trust’s secure care inpatient unit, Reaside, was the winner of the Service User and Carer Choice Awards. One of the Trust’s service users said of Angela: “She reassured me by explaining that mental ill health can happen to anyone and people do come through it, but it does take time to go through the different stages of recovery.”

This year’s six categories delivered awards to NHS staff for Rising Star, Team of the Year, Making a Positive Difference, Outstanding Leadership, Unsung Hero and Service User and Carer Choice Award.

Roisin Fallon-Williams, Chief Executive at BSMHFT, said: “Each year, our Quality and Excellence Awards provides an opportunity to recognise and say thank you to our hard working and dedicated colleagues whose inspiring work has led others to nominate them for one of our six awards.

“The nominations for this year’s awards were required to show how each individual or team live by our Trust’s values, these being: honesty and openness; compassion; dignity and respect, and; commitment. Many congratulations to all our magnificent finalists.”

Each year, the Trust’s Quality and Excellence Awards are made possible by the generous support received from sponsors. The 2019 awards were sponsored by Amey (main award sponsor) alongside Design Buro, InterSystems and Servelec.
