The National BAME Health and Care Awards seeks to recognise, celebrate, and reward the achievements of BAME medical, health, and social care professionals.
Marimouttou Coumarassamy, finalist for the BAME Nurse of the Year and Compassionate-Inclusive Leader of the Year categories commented: “I am really humbled to learn that I have been shortlisted for National BAME Health and Care awards. God is so gracious. I am thankful to the people who spent their valuable time to nominate me. My heartfelt thanks also go to my mentors and staff who have supported me with various learning opportunities and helped me to grow as a compassionate and inclusive leader.”
“The last two years have been very challenging for the BAME community. Recognition like this will make a significant difference to the morale of BAME leaders and communities. I would like to congratulate all the finalists and wish them all the best. It is a real privilege to be here.”
Fellow finalist, Jaskiern Kaur who has been shortlisted under Inspiring Diversity and Inclusion Lead category said “Wow, I'm super appreciative of this nomination. There is so much to do but I’m really excited about inspiring the people that I spend time with. Thank you for nominating me...whoever and wherever you are, let’s be the change we would all like to see!”
Chief Executive for Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, Roisin Fallon-Williams said: “I am extremely proud that BSMFHT has not one but two employees who have been shortlisted. The National BAME Health and Care Awards 2022 winners will be announced on Thursday 9 June 2022 at the Royal College of Physicians, London, COVID-19 restrictions permitting.
