Black History Month is an annual event where for the whole month of October, the history, culture, achievements and contributions of Black people are celebrated across the UK.
This year, we are celebrating our 918 colleagues of Black heritage by shining a spotlight on those who are compassionate, inclusive and committed in everything they do.
We reached out to our colleagues to ask for their help to nominate unsung heroes who live our Trust values and demonstrate behaviours that help to improve the experiences of our service users or colleagues within our organisation.
Throughout the month we will be sharing the nominations, today we are sharing the words of Interim Head of Nursing and Allied Health Care Professions for Acute and Urgent Care,
Leona Tasab who nominated Support Worker, Patricia Haughton.
Leona said: “In my new interim role, whilst out meeting colleagues, I was introduced to Pat and I was so impressed by her attitude. She exuded the values of our organisation, spoke enthusiastically about her passion for her patients and teammates. Her colleagues spoke so highly of her in return, one person said, ‘everyone needs a Pat in their lives'. She talks about her patients and their families in such high regard. She is retiring after 44 years of service and dedication so I would love for her to receive recognition for her commitment to us and our service users. Thank you Pat for being an unsung hero!”
