Last Saturday marked the beginning of Black History Month in the UK, an event that has been celebrated nationwide for more than 30 years. This year the theme is Time for Change: Action Not Words.
As a Trust, we are committed to building a diverse workforce that feels valued and reflects the communities we serve.
Here at BSMHFT we are proud to have a diverse workforce, out of which around 918 colleagues (22%) are of African Caribbean heritage.
Over the next few weeks, we will be hearing from our Black colleagues and service users. Together we will learn what it means to be Black in modern day Britain, we will learn about Black culture, celebrate successes and achievements as well as reflect on the many practices our Trust has put in place to improve equality.
Today, we are kickstarting the month by hearing from our Executive Director of Strategy, People and Partnerships, Patrick Nyarumbu MBE. In the video, Patrick explains what Black History Month means to him, what he loves most about his Zimbabwean heritage and what are we doing Trust to support the theme ‘Time for Change: Action Not Words’.
