Getting a diagnosis can be daunting, but it is crucial to finding out as early as possible so that the right care can be put in place. If you are worried about yourself, or someone close to you, speak with your GP in the first instance.
This week, Professor Dr Farooq Khan, our Consultant Psychiatrist in Dementia and Frailty will speak about improving the quality of diagnosing dementia at the Alzheimer's Society’s annual conference in London.
Dr Khan is passionate about his work in dementia and frailty, saying:
“Dementia is becoming one of the world’s biggest concerns as people are living longer due to the many scientific developments we are seeing.
“I chose to work with and help people who are not able to express themselves, or are perceived as vulnerable, but are not able to ask for support.
“I want to be a voice for these people when they’re less able to support themselves and to listen, talk to them and understand them. It gives me great satisfaction to do this and to help them in the best way I can."
