Community team moves

Along with many other health providers, our trust is exploring a number of efficiency savings, in order to meet the financial challenges we face, while ensuring that patient care and experience remains our priority.

To help us achieve these savings, we will be looking at reducing the number of our sites. As a result we have created a number of community hubs, offering more suitable accommodation for our staff and service users.

The first of our community hubs was created at our Orsborn House site in Handsworth. This has seen our Central and west hub from addictions and Community mental health teams (CMHT) based at Harry Watton, Ladywood and Handsworth move to the to the new community hub in May.

The second community hub will be based at Small Heath Health Centre on Chapman Road, Small Heath. Riverside CMHT, O'Donnell CMHT, Spring Road  assertive outreach team and the addiction recovery community hub (ARCH) move late July / early August.

Alongside these changes Spring Road CMHT will be twinned with Warstock Lane CMHT, and move to Warstock Lane, which will be upgraded to accomodate the service moving in. This will take place during July with all of the moved completed by August 1.

Our AOTs have also been reconfigured which means a change to the catchment populations. There are now five AOT teams - north, east, south, central and Handsworth - in Birmingham and an AOT team in Solihull.

Service users affected by these changes have already been notified. Anyone based at these sites who has any concerns should talk to their care coordinator, who will be happy to discuss these changes.
