Place of Safety conference

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust and West Midlands Police have been at the forefront of ensuring people with mental health issues are kept out of police custody and cared for in the best possible place through the development of the place of safety suite and now street triage.

They are now hosting a free collaborative event to support the national development of Place of Safety.

By attending this conference you will have the opportunity to:
•    become part of a national peer network for Place of Safety
•    share experiences and learn from other’s working in this area
•    enable best practice to be spread.

Speakers include Bob Jones, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, John Short, Chief Executive of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Gary Forsyth, Assistant Chief Constable of West Midlands Police and Robert Cole, Head of Clinical Services at West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The conference will include a range of workshops discussing how organisations can work effectively together and what’s next.

This free event is aimed at those working in the police force, NHS and ambulance trusts, commissioning organisations and local authorities, specifically:

•    Place of Safety managers
•    Bed management teams
•    Emergency care managers
•    Mental Health leads
•    A&E staff
•    Duty and Access teams
