Trust appoints new executive director of operations

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has announced the appointment of Brendan Hayes as the Trust’s new executive director of operations.

As a qualified nurse with a strong mental health and operational management background, Brendan brings with him a wealth of experience gained in a number of senior NHS roles. Most recently he was Director of Operations and Nursing at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Brendan, who is expected to take up his new post with effect from July 15, said: “I'm really looking forward to joining Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and playing a major part in shaping the delivery of mental health services for local people.

“The Trust covers an increasingly diverse population with a wide range of needs and I’m excited about working with the Trust in meeting that challenge.”

John Short, Chief Executive of the Trust, said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Brendan to the Trust Board and senior team at our Trust.  There was a rigorous selection process that included not only formal interviews but also staff focus groups and a session with a panel of our service users.

“His expertise will be critical in ensuring we can deliver on our ambitious plans for mental health services over the next three years and beyond.”
