Volunteers needed for Citizen-led Quality Boards

Are you passionate about improving the lives of Birmingham's most vulnerable citizens?
If so, Birmingham City Council needs your help.

They are looking for ten volunteer 'experts by experience' to join two Citizen-led Quality Boards to help improve the quality of adult social care in Birmingham. They need your time, your enthusiasm, your ideas and your commitment.

Every day (and night) of the year, thousands of older people and disabled people in Birmingham depend on help and support arranged and paid for by Birmingham City Council. It is very important that this help and support is delivered with dignity and respect, and that people have as much choice and control as possible over their care.

Social care services work best when the people who use them, and their family and friends, have a say in designing, delivering and reviewing them. As an 'expert by experience', you can help us to understand what works well and what doesn't.

The Quality Board for Assessment and Support Planning looks at the social work service - how staff talk to people about the support they need, decide how much (if any) help can provided, and work out how they would like to receive it.

The Quality Board for Commissioning looks at the quality of the support that the Council provides or pays for (including residential care, home care and support outside the home), or that people buy with their own money.

To be a Board Member you need to be passionate about wanting to improve the lives of the city's most vulnerable citizens. Payment is not offered, but the Council will meet your expenses and provide training and support.

To apply, you can download the Application Form and Information for Applicants from:
