Important changes to making new referrals

Our Trust has now implemented a simpler way for GPs and other referring services to make new mental health referrals. This will include addictions, adults of working age, youth services and older people’s services. The first point of contact for service users will still be their GP.

Referral to IAPT services and RAID will remain the same as will referrals to specialities such as neuropsychiatry and mother and baby psychiatry as well as forensic services.

The GP commissioners have developed a mental health referral form in collaboration with staff from the Trust. It will soon be available on GP practice systems but in the meantime a Word version is available to download on the Trust website at www.bsmhft.nhs.uk
