International Nurses Day celebrations at Uffculme

Nurses as a force for change, that was one of the messages that came out of our International Nurses Day celebrations that took place on Friday, May 9 at Uffculme Centre.

The event was a chance to celebrate the work of our nurses and hear about some of their great work. It was also a chance to hear from Sue Hartley, Executive Director of Nursing about the kindness she has experienced over her first few weeks of being in the Trust.

The main business of the day was awarding achievement badges to our nursing colleagues and health care assistants, which are awarded to staff who demonstrate the 6C's of nursing in their work (Compassion, communication, care, competence, courage and commitment).

A number of teams also talked about their innovative work, including Hertford House who shared some positive quotes from service users about their experiences of the service: "You know staff are always at hand to help out".

Nursing badges will also be awarded later on in the year during our celebrations for World Mental Health Day on October 10.
