Dry January - Have a holiday from booze

Published: 06/01/2015

Our Trust, alongside other NHS organisations, is supporting NHS Employers, Public Health England (PHE) and Alcohol Concern, the leading national alcohol charity, to encourage people to have a holiday from booze during January 2015.

Dry January is about encouraging behaviour change through a positive experience. The aim is to make it fun, supportive and informative so sign up to join in with thousands of others taking a break from booze this January.

Having a holiday from booze after the Christmas period can benefit your finances, calorie intake and general health. It’s super simple to do – just swap your alcoholic drinks for something softer this month to experience health (and wealth) benefits.

Did you know that 1.6million people in the UK are alcohol dependent and that the NHS receives 1.2million alcohol related admissions every year?

To support Dry January and join the thousands who are taking a break from booze this month, you can sign up online at www.dryjanuary.org.uk to get lots of helpful hints on how to keep motivated.
