Artwork unveiled to commemorate Tamarind Centre

Published: 19/01/2017

Representatives from Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust's Tamarind Centre have created a piece of artwork to promote inspiration, encouragement and a sense of community spirit among staff, service users and visitors.

The artwork depicts a sunrise with motivational words displayed on its multi-coloured rays, an idea thought of by one of the Trust’s service users. The service user worked with staff members from around the Trust to develop the idea and to create and construct the artwork itself.

The piece was unveiled by Executive Director of Nursing, Sue Hartley, on Thursday 1 December 2016. The artwork has been displayed outside of the Tamarind Centre.

The service user who had initiated the project said: “It was a lot of fun working together with staff and peers collaboratively.”

The Trust would like to thank the service user, and staff members Tracie Adkins, Richard Gordan, Phil McGlynn and Kevan Lewis for their hard work on this project.
