You're invited to our 'Remembering Srebrenica: Acts of Courage' event

During the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, ordinary people undertook extraordinary acts of courage. Join us for a special event at Uffculme to celebrate these unsung heroes. 

The event will be hosted by our Chief Executive, John Short, and will feature 3 speakers talking about their experiences:

  • Lejla Damon - Born out of war time rape 23 years ago will share her experience of being rescued and adopted by British journalists
  • Maz Saleem - Following her father's racist murder 5 years ago in Birmingham will share her experience of resisting hatred and promoting unity despite her grief.
  • Waqar Azmi OBE - Chair of Remembering Srebrenica
  • Amra Dautovic - Genocide survivor and  Psychologist will share her experience of becoming a child refugee as a result of the war, and how she now helps others address trauma and mental health issues.


The event will take place on Thursday 26 July 2018 between 12pm and 3pm at our Trust's  Uffculme Centre, Queensbridge Road, B13 8QY.

Please remember that Alma Aganović, Chair of Remembering Srebrenica West Midlands, invites you to an event on Monday 9 July 2018, between 6pm and 8pm at Tally Ho, to remember the victims and the survivors of the genocide that took place in Srebrenica 23 years ago.
