Happy birthday NHS!

Today marks 75 wonderful years of the NHS. Since 1948, the NHS has continually evolved and adapted to meet the needs of each successive generation.

Mental health provision has certainly improved since the NHS was launched 75 years ago. Treatment options have increased and access to treatment has improved. Social barriers have been broken down, most notably those surrounding public attitudes. Mental health is being talked about more openly and positively than ever before – particularly by young people who will be a driving force for progressive change.

To celebrate this special day, our Chief Executive, Roísìn Fallon-Williams and Deputy Chief Executive, Patrick Nyarumbu MBE have recorded a special message to pay tribute to the NHS and to thank our fantastic Team BSMHFT for the contributions they have made to the lives of our service users.

Treating a million people per day in England, the NHS touches all of our lives, and long may it continue.
