How the Staff Survey Results are kept anonymous so you can speak up safely
1. BSMHFT securely sends over a list of employees as at 1st September to our Third Party Provider IQVIA
BSMHFT securely sends over a list of employees as at 1st September to our Third Party Provider IQVIA. Every employee is assigned to an individual team, division and directorate. This sample is securely validated by NHS England.
2. IQVIA creates a secure online database which is updated via the online survey into which you place your answers via the email you receive
IQVIA creates a secure online database which is updated via the online survey into which you place your answers via the email you receive. BSMHFT never accesses this database or sees the records.
3. IQVIA also create a unique confidential ID for your entry in the database which relates to your email address
IQVIA also create a unique confidential ID for your entry in the database which relates to your email address. Once your answer is in the database the IQVIA system will no longer make that email address available when the list of email reminders is compiled to send out reminders. This stops your email inbox getting clogged up but only you and IQVIA know who is still receiving reminders and who isn’t.
4. No one at BSMHFT knows whether or not an individual answer has been completed
No one at BSMHFT knows whether or not an individual answer has been completed.
5. BSMHFT only receives statistics that summarise the answers after the closing date for the survey
BSMHFT only receives statistics that summarise the answers after the closing date for the survey. We still do not see individual records and only receive spreadsheets or online data at the corporate level for the whole of BSMHFT which combines thousands of answers for teams of colleagues where there are 10 or more answers in a team.
6. BSMHFT does not receive demographic or occupational group information on who has answered within individual teams
BSMHFT does not receive demographic or occupational group information on who has answered within individual teams. We do get these breakdowns at the corporate level for the whole trust which is how we can compare the experience of different groups at our Trust at the Trust level.
7. Comments made in the survey are only shared alongside corporate results
Comments made in the survey are only shared alongside corporate results. It is not possible to track an individual comment to an individual although all comments are shared in aggregate with the Trust. If someone inadvertently identifies themselves in a comment then the Trust will redact that detail before it is shared.
