Annual General Meeting and Annual Members’ Meeting 2025

Join us at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 23 September, 10am – 3pm, Uffculme Centre, 52 Queensbridge Road, Birmingham B13 8QY

We’re excited to invite you to join us for this year’s AGM – a day dedicated to reflecting on our journey, connecting with each other, and co-creating the future of BSMHFT. This event is all about sharing our achievements, celebrating our milestones, and working together to shape the future of mental health and wellbeing care in Birmingham and Solihull.

Itinerary for the day

From 10am – Reception and an opportunity to visit our information stalls and transformation zone. Here you can learn about our priorities, including digital innovation, community mental health service and equality, diversity and inclusion. There will also be a wellbeing zone with yoga, seated exercises and games (times below). Registration will take place in the reception area of Uffculme.

10-10:30am: Join the drum circle

Ready to make some noise? Our drum circle is all about fun, rhythm and release. Grab a djembe, bongo or darbuka and feel the beat as we play together. Drumming is a brilliant way to relieve stress, boost your mood and spark energy – no musical skills needed, just bring your enthusiasm and give it a go!

10:30-11am: Yoga Nidra session

Yoga Nidra is a form of deep relaxation that allows the body to restore whilst the mind stays awake. You receive all the benefits of meditation with an opportunity to take a nap! It is said that a 30 minute Yoga Nidra is equivalent to three hours restful sleep. Using the breath and a rotation of conscious awareness, you will be guided through points of the body, that will enable you to take deep rest in the busyness of your day and create a reflective time to pause.

This practice can be received seated in your chair, with no equipment or previous experience needed, just an open heart and a willingness to experience something you may never have tried before. We look forward to offering you an opportunity of deep rest!

11-11:30am: Desk-based movement sessions

Health Instructor, Chekaine Steele will be running energising, bite-sized desk-based exercise sessions, as a lot of people work from home, to help you refresh, recharge and reset during the day. These short 10-minute sessions will show you quick and simple movements you can do right at your workstation – no equipment, no special kit, just easy variations you can build into your everyday routine. Come along and discover how just a few minutes of movement can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing at work!

11.30am – Sophia Badhan, Award-Winning Mental Health Campaigner and Speaker, will join us to discuss her lived experience.
