People affected by suicide are being encouraged to apply to become a Baton Bearer when the Baton of Hope Tour visits Birmingham in 2027.

The Baton of Hope is a national suicide prevention initiative that aims to raise awareness, challenge stigma and encourage open conversations about suicide. The tour will visit Birmingham on Monday 13 September 2027, bringing together local communities, organisations and individuals to share messages of hope and support.

Baton Bearers play a central role in the tour. They are typically people who have been bereaved by suicide, have lived experience of a suicide attempt, or have been impacted by suicide in another way.

Carrying the baton symbolises hope being passed from one person to another, demonstrating that support, understanding and recovery are possible.

Applications are now open, and anyone affected by suicide is welcome to apply. Organisers are keen to hear from people with a wide range of experiences who want to help raise awareness and inspire conversations that could save lives.

The Baton of Hope Tour was launched to create a lasting legacy of suicide prevention across the UK, encouraging individuals, families and communities to talk openly about suicide and seek support when needed.

The Birmingham event is expected to bring together people from across the city and beyond, shining a spotlight on the importance of mental health, suicide prevention and the power of hope.
