A huge well done to the Cedar Ward, Tamarind, February’s Team of the Month. They have been recognised for their care, compassion and resilience in managing a case of measles on the ward.

Cedar Ward at the Tamarind Centre work with complex service users who have been in mental health services often for decades and there is a real sense of community. Cedar had a difficult two weeks recently as they had a case of measles on the ward. Staff were quick to identify this and took prompt action to care for the patient affected and protect those around him. They were kind and caring towards him and did their best to keep his spirits up whilst in isolation. They took everything in their stride and never complained. The Ward was in lockdown, meaning the other 14 service users were restricted to the ward for 21 days. The team had ongoing discussions with service users giving them support, reassurance and educating them around the infection. Cedar team demonstrated responsiveness, resilience commitment and compassion.
