Today, Monday 12 May we were proud to honour International Nurses’ Day with a vibrant celebration at the Uffculme Centre. From 10am to 3pm, colleagues came together for a relaxed and inspiring day dedicated to recognising the compassion, commitment, and outstanding contribution of our nursing workforce.

Throughout the day, themed stalls showcased the breadth and depth of nursing at BSMHFT. Colleagues had the opportunity to:

  • Meet Andy Chaffer from Unison
  • Learn about the Professional Nurse Advocate role with Katie and Jodie
  • Explore CPD, pre-registration pathways and ‘Grow Your Own’ initiatives with Roxy and Sharon
  • Discover updates on our Trust’s Nursing Strategy with Zoe and Sophia
  • Hear from Zoe Lawson about developments in Advanced Practice
  • Access important information about safeguarding with Mel

A standout moment came from our internationally recruited nurses from Reaside, who brought energy and cultural flair with a fantastic dance performance. Their contribution was a heartwarming highlight, bringing us all together in celebration.

Attendees also enjoyed homemade cakes and ice lollies, kindly provided by Roxy, while giant garden games like Jenga and Connect Four offered some friendly competition outside. Indoors, craft activities led by our Experts by Experience added a creative and reflective touch to the event.

Whether you joined us for a few minutes or stayed for the whole day, thank you for taking the time to celebrate, connect, and show your appreciation for our incredible nursing teams.

Happy International Nurses’ Day from all of us at BSMHFT!
