Service users and colleagues at Ardenleigh came together for a vibrant Reggae and Caribbean Carnival-themed Celebration Day, recognising the achievements, progress and recovery journeys of service users over the past six months.
Organised by the Occupational Therapy team, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate personal successes, strengthen social connections and promote wellbeing in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
The celebration transformed the ward into a colourful carnival setting, with attendees enjoying live steel pan music, carnival games, creative art projects and Caribbean-inspired refreshments. Face painting, glitter and bright accessories added to the festive atmosphere, helping to create a memorable day for everyone involved.
Throughout the event, service users and staff shared in a range of activities designed to encourage engagement, creativity and connection. The day highlighted the important role that meaningful occupation and social interaction play in supporting mental health, wellbeing and recovery.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a lively Candy Dance, which brought everyone together and provided a joyful conclusion to the day’s activities.
The event reflected Ardenleigh’s commitment to creating positive, recovery-focused experiences that support individuals to build confidence, develop new skills and celebrate their achievements.
The Occupational Therapy team said the celebration was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the progress service users have made while reinforcing the value of community, creativity and connection in recovery.
By bringing people together to celebrate success and wellbeing, the event showcased how therapeutic activities can help foster hope, resilience and a sense of belonging for those accessing mental health services at Ardenleigh.
