Congratulations to the Children and Young People Transfer team who were nominated for their exceptional dedication and hard work in successfully delivering the safe transfer of colleagues to form our new CYP division. Their compassion, commitment and teamwork under intense pressure made this complex programme a success.
The Children Young People (CYP) transfer team has worked diligently to ensure the safe transfer of colleagues from Birmingham Women’s and Children’ to BSMHFT on 1 July 2025 to create our new Children and Young Peoples division.
All workstream leads have balanced the additional responsibilities that came with this programme on top of their already busy roles. Their determination, dedication and sheer hard work has been fundamental to move from an agreement in principle to the transfer of staff to their new employer.
All of the workstream leads acted in line with our values ensuring that everything we did was completed with compassion, everyone of them showed commitment to deliver the programme within the limited timescales available and ensuring we considered the inclusivity of all with the actions agreed.
We cannot underestimate the sheer volume of work that was required in the background that many colleagues will not be aware of but was crucial to ensure the transfer happened in the timescales required. That coupled with the many requests for information to support the development of the business case required by NHSE to support their decision making in approval of the transfer.
We have just completed Phase I of the project and there is further work to be done in Phase II but it is important to recognise and reflect on the monumental journey we have all been on to this point.
