People across Birmingham and surrounding areas are being invited to attend a free community event designed to raise awareness of brain health, memory concerns and dementia support.
The Memory Matters Marketplace, taking place on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr, will bring together a wide range of local organisations, healthcare professionals and community services to provide information, advice and practical support for people experiencing memory difficulties, living with dementia, or caring for a loved one.
The event is being organised by Memory Matters, a partnership initiative that supports people with memory concerns and dementia across Birmingham and Solihull. Working closely with health, social care, voluntary and community organisations, the service helps people access support, maintain their independence and stay connected within their local communities.
Running from 1.30pm to 3pm, the Marketplace is open to everyone, although it is particularly aimed at people aged 40 and over, encouraging individuals to take positive steps to support their long-term brain health.
The theme of the event is:
Love Your Heart. Stay Sharp. Keep Connected.
Visitors will be able to discover how maintaining good physical health, staying mentally active and building strong social connections can help support brain health and reduce the risk of cognitive decline later in life.
A variety of local organisations and support services will be attending the event, including:
- Age Connects
- Alzheimer’s Society
- Birmingham Mind
- Waiting Room / Common Unity
- West Midlands Fire Service
- Admiral Nurses
- Falls Prevention Service
- Dementia and memory support services
- Additional local health, wellbeing and community partners
Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with professionals and community organisations, learn about local services, access information and resources, and find out what support is available for themselves, family members or friends.
As well as providing practical advice and guidance, the event aims to raise awareness of dementia, promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen community connections by helping people access the right support at the right time.
Whether you are concerned about your own memory, supporting someone living with dementia, or simply looking for ways to improve your brain health, the Memory Matters Marketplace offers a welcoming environment to learn more about the support available across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
