More than 200 colleagues, service users, carers, partners and community organisations attended Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), coming together to celebrate achievements from the past year and look ahead to the future.
The day began with a programme of wellbeing activities, which proved popular with attendees. Sessions included A Pause for Mindfulness with Sarah Schäd, Community Matron for Homeless and Addiction Services, a lively Drum Circle led by Martine Evans, Spiritual Care Facilitator and Shinrin-Yoku (Nature Prescriptions) with Jane Jennings, Spiritual Care Practitioner.
The formal AGM was opened by Experts by Experience (EbEs) Nicola, Nicolas and Kam, who generously shared their personal stories and experiences. Their moving and inspiring accounts highlighted the impact of Trust services and provided a powerful reminder of why the work we do matters. We are incredibly grateful to them for their courage and openness in sharing their journeys.
Attendees also had the opportunity to visit a wide range of information stands hosted by Trust teams, staff networks and partner organisations, showcasing services, support and opportunities available across the Trust and local community.
A special thank you goes to Nicola, Nicolas and Kam for sharing their experiences, to Sarah Schäd, Martine Evans and Jane Jennings for delivering such engaging wellbeing sessions, and to all of the stand holders whose enthusiasm and dedication helped make the event such a success.
The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the Trust’s achievements, hear updates from senior leaders and celebrate the collective efforts of colleagues, service users, carers, volunteers and partners who continue to make a difference across Birmingham and Solihull.
