In 2022 Birmingham and Solihull ICB outlined its intentions to work with small, local organisations to support adults with a Learning Disability or Autism who were in mental health hospital settings or at risk of being admitted. The focus would be on the small scale of the organisation, the bespoke support and ensuring adults and those people important to them are at the heart of decision-making. Birmingham and Solihull ICB invited people to express an interest in becoming a Small Supports Provider.
Since 2022, the commissioning function relating to Small Supports has transferred from Birmingham and Solihull ICB to the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Provider Collaborative, however, the commitment to developing a Small Supports Programme remains. For those people who have expressed an interest the Trust will be holding interviews in October 2025 to determine who will be Birmingham and Solihull Small Supports Providers.
The Small Supports Programme will be formally launched in 2026 and following its successful implementation the Trust will review the demand for the programme with theintention of expanding the numbers of new organisation in the future. If you have any questions about the Small Supports Programme or would like to express an interest in becoming a new Small Supports Organisation in the future, please email: bsmhft.smallsupports@nhs.net
