Non-acute inpatient services (NAIPS) - high dependency units

These are high dependency units which offer a specialist service primarily for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and associated risk behaviours within a restricted environment.

A full range of multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment are offered, including talking therapies, individual or group therapy, relapse prevention, healthy living and discharge planning.

Every individual is expected to participate in their recovery plan with the goal that each individual will reach a point where they would be able to move to a less secure environment or be discharged back into the community.

The service is for adults (25+ in Birmingham and 16+ in Solihull) with a treatment resistant serious and enduring mental illness (for example schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar affective disorder and other psychoses).

The service takes referrals from assertive outreach, community rehab and recovery teams, CMHTs, acute inpatient services and other NAIPS.
