Think Family

A Think Family approach refers to the steps taken by BSMHFT staff working with children, young people and adults to identify wider family needs which extend beyond the service user we are supporting.

All BSMHFT staff will ask questions about our services user families to understand the context of our service users lives, ensuring that we understand key relationships, concerns, and needs. BSMHFT staff will respond to the concerns or needs identified by offering the relevant mental health support, seeking advice, signposting or referring to other agencies.

Our service users should be able to say: “I am a partner in meeting the needs of my family and keeping them and myself safe along with Trust staff and other professionals.

BSMHFT is committed to this approach, to improve the outcomes for families.
