Patients and staff at the Oleaster enjoyed a special celebration for International Nurses Day, as Melissa Ward welcomed some very unexpected visitors.
Two Shetland ponies visited the ward, offering a unique and uplifting experience for patients and colleagues. The visit created a warm and joyful atmosphere, with many people taking the opportunity to meet, stroke and spend time with the animals.
Patients shared how much they enjoyed the experience, while a student nurse on placement said the visit “lifted the mood and morale” on the ward.
Sanum Hussain, Deputy Ward Manager, said:
“It was lovely to see colleagues and patients from other wards come together to meet the ponies and celebrate International Nurses Day with Team Melissa.”
The visit highlights the creativity and compassion of staff at the Oleaster, who are committed to enhancing the care experience and creating positive, meaningful moments for patients.
We would like to thank all colleagues involved for making this memorable day possible, and for their continued dedication to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
