Team BSMHFT came together at Aston Villa Football Club on Friday 5 June to celebrate the outstanding achievements of colleagues and teams at the Values Awards 2026.
Hosted by Chair Phil Gayle and Chief Executive Roísìn Fallon-Williams, this year’s event welcomed 300 guests and recognised excellence across 10 award categories. With almost 600 nominations received, the awards highlighted the dedication, compassion and innovation demonstrated by colleagues across the Trust.
The evening celebrated those who truly embody our Trust Values of Compassion, Inclusive and Commitment with 30 individuals and teams receiving bronze, silver and gold awards.
Among the evening’s most prestigious awards was the Lifetime Achievement award, which recognised colleagues who have dedicated many years of service to improving the lives of patients and service users. Gold was awarded to Liz Cooksey, Business Support Manager at Northcroft, in recognition of an extraordinary 50 years of service to the NHS. Throughout her career, Liz has combined professionalism, compassion and inclusivity while providing vital support behind the scenes.
The Team of the Year – Clinical Services award was presented to the Healthcare team at HMP Birmingham. The team was recognised for its exceptional multidisciplinary working, compassionate approach and commitment to delivering safe, innovative and person-centred care to some of the most vulnerable people within our services.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to reflect on another remarkable year for Team BSMHFT, recognising both the challenges overcome and the positive impact colleagues continue to make for patients, service users, carers and communities.
Roísìn Fallon-Williams, Chief Executive of BSMHFT who co-hosted the awards, said:
The Values Awards are always a highlight of the year and it was wonderful to see colleagues from across Team BSMHFT come together to celebrate the people and teams who make our Trust such an extraordinary place to work.
“The nominations once again showcased the compassion, commitment and inclusivity that our colleagues demonstrate every day, and the positive difference they make to the lives of service users, carers and communities.”
As colleagues arrived at the event, Jazz Janagle from our ICCR directorate helped to warm up the crowd with a fantastic DJ set, ahead of the ceremony. Once everyone had taken their seats, Daniel Maddocks from our Averts team took to the stage to sing two incredible songs, that got the celebrations underway and set the tone for a memorable evening.
Also attending the Values Awards event was Neil Hathaway, Director of Operations for SSL. He added:
“We were delighted to sponsor the BSMHFT Awards again this year! This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hard work and commitment across the Trust and to reaffirm our support for a strong and enduring partnership with BSMHFT and its people.”
Congratulations to all nominees and award winners. Every nomination reflected the outstanding commitment, innovation and care demonstrated across Team BSMHFT every day. Thank you also to those who bought raffle tickets, over £300 was raised for the BSMHFT charity, Caring Minds.
