Colleagues from across Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust came together for a successful Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care (ETOC) Away Day, focused on sharing learning, reflecting on practice and strengthening the delivery of enhanced therapeutic observations and care across the organisation.
Held on Friday 15 May, the event welcomed more than 50 delegates from inpatient wards and a wide range of professional disciplines. The day provided a valuable opportunity for staff to explore best practice, discuss challenges and learn from one another in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The programme featured a variety of engaging sessions, including service user perspectives that offered important insight into the impact of therapeutic care and observations. Delegates also explored the legal, ethical and therapeutic principles that underpin ETOC, helping to reinforce a shared understanding of high-quality, person-centred care.
Alongside the formal sessions, colleagues took part in the creative and much-enjoyed ‘Great ETOC Bake Off’, which highlighted the importance of teamwork, innovation and engagement in driving continuous improvement.
The away day demonstrated the Trust’s ongoing commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and therapeutic care, while providing staff with the opportunity to reflect on practice, celebrate successes and identify ways to further enhance patient experiences.
By bringing together colleagues from different disciplines and services, the event reinforced the value of learning from one another and working collaboratively to support some of the Trust’s most vulnerable patients.
