Service users receiving care through the Adult ADHD Service at BSMHFT, covering adults in Birmingham and Solihull, can now benefit from a faster and more convenient prescription service, with ADHD medication being sent electronically directly to their nominated pharmacy.

The service supports adults aged 25+ in Birmingham and adults aged 18+ in Solihull.

The change means prescriptions no longer need to be printed and posted, helping to reduce delays and making the process more reliable and convenient for service users and carers. By enabling prescriptions to be sent directly to a nominated pharmacy, the service will support quicker access to ADHD medication and improve the overall patient experience.

The introduction of electronic prescribing is another important step in modernising care within the Adult ADHD Service, supporting safer and more efficient prescribing processes for both service users and staff.

This improvement has been delivered through close collaboration between BSMHFT’s ADHD, Pharmacy, ICT and Programme Management Office teams, helping to improve outcomes and access to care for people living with ADHD.
