Dr Linda Cullen will be stepping down from her role as BSMHFT’s Non-Executive Director at the end of 2025, bringing to a close seven years of dedicated service to our Trust.
Linda was appointed to the Board on 1 January 2019 and is our longest-standing Non-Executive Director. Alongside her Board role, she has worked for 25 years as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist across a wide range of settings in the Midlands. She is currently working as a locum consultant in the NHS and as a second opinion doctor for the Care Quality Commission.
Throughout her career, Linda has worked closely with colleagues across both child and adult mental health services, with a strong focus on research and evidence-based practice. She has played a significant role in the development of Early Intervention in Psychosis services across Birmingham, as well as acute and high dependency CAMHS services – including helping to establish one of the first CAMHS acute admission wards in the UK.
During her time with the Trust, Linda chaired the Quality, Patient Experience and Safety Committee, a role she held until December 2025. In this position, she provided strong clinical leadership and assurance, supporting the Trust’s ongoing focus on quality, safety and patient experience.
Phil Gayle, Trust Chair, said:
On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Linda for the significant contribution she has made over the past seven years. Her medical consultant knowledge and experience have been invaluable to the Board of Directors and greatly appreciated.
We would like to thank Linda for her commitment, expertise and leadership and wish her every success for the future.
