Membership and governors

It’s free to become a member of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and doing so is a great way of challenging the stigma and discrimination that people with mental health difficulties can sometimes face.

Our Trust is actively recruiting and engaging members, and is committed to creating a dialogue with our communities. Our Trust currently has over thirteen thousand members. Members can include service users, carers, staff or local people with an interest in the Trust.

Members can join the following constituencies depending on where they live:

  • Birmingham
  • Solihull
  • Rest of England and Wales

As well as joining the Trust depending on where they live, members are also categorised by their interests, into the following groups: public members, service user members and carer members. Each group of members is represented by a governor.

You can become a member by emailing hannahsullivan@nhs.net or through filling out a membership form which are distributed across Trust sites and are also given out widely at events the Trust attends.

Members can keep in touch with their governor by emailing hannahsullivan@nhs.net.

You can also help by supporting our Trust’s own charity, Caring Minds, which directly raises money for the service users, carers and staff of the Trust. Caring Minds helps to provide the extras that normal NHS funding does not provide, such as equipment, specialised furniture, research and service users events. Click here to find out more about how you can help.
