One of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Sharon Nira-King, has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to patient care and staff support.

Sharon, who works as part of our Aston Community Mental Health team, was invited to the Prestigious Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on 6 May, following a nomination from the Trust in recognition of her exceptional work supporting internationally educated nurses and championing equality, diversity and inclusion.

The invitation followed executive-level discussions highlighting the significant impact Sharon has made across the organisation through both for her clinical leadership and pastoral support for colleagues joining the NHS from overseas.

A passionate advocate for inclusive practice, Sharon developed an international welcome book designed to help internationally educated nurses settle into NHS roles and adapt to life in the UK. The resource has played an important role in improving confidence, wellbeing and retention among colleagues, helping staff feel supported both professionally and personally.

Her work is underpinned by research and a strong commitment to creating inclusive environments where colleagues can thrive and provide the best possible care for patients.

The Royal Garden Party recognition celebrates Sharon’s compassion, leadership and dedication, as well as the lasting difference her work continues to make for colleagues, patients and services across the Trust.
