Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) has welcomed 82 newly appointed staff nurses as part of a major recruitment campaign designed to strengthen frontline services and support the delivery of high-quality care.

The successful recruitment drive represents a significant investment in the Trust’s workforce, helping to fill existing vacancies and ensure services are equipped to meet the needs of patients, service users and communities across Birmingham and Solihull.

Each appointment was made through the Trust’s rigorous Values-Based Interview (VBI) process, which assesses candidates not only on their professional knowledge and clinical skills but also on their ability to demonstrate the values and behaviours that are central to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.

The new nurses have been matched directly to vacancies across the organisation, helping to reduce workforce gaps and create a more sustainable supply of nursing professionals for the future.

To support their transition into practice, all newly recruited nurses will have access to the Trust’s structured preceptorship programmes. These programmes provide ongoing supervision, professional development opportunities and practical guidance, helping new starters build confidence and develop their careers within Team BSMHFT.
